SPECIAL THANKS

A special thanks to all who do the work it takes to keep the range operating.  Mike Milano painted 25’, 30’ and 35’ indicators on firing points 1-12, and replaced some lights.  John Moody and Steve Carmick worked on the gutters.

FAIR

Thank you to all who worked the boot at the fair. The club had a pellet booth in the Wildlife Building. The club had air rifles and swinging targets for people to shoot at.  All enjoyed shooting the air rifle.  We had people sign up as interested in membership and in participating on the high school teams.

SELF DEFENCE COURSE

NRA Self Defense in the Home – Introduction to Defensive Training

Tentatively scheduled for October 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th  at 7:00-10:00 PM and Saturday November 1st from 9:00AM – 4:00 PM

Costs will be $50.00 for members and $75 non-members and $125 for couples.  Our goal is to have 30 students.

HUNTER SAFETY

The August hunter safety class had 99 students.  Eleven did not complete the course and 9 failed. Hunter safety class dates are on the web-site.  Discussion was held regarding the need for a roving microphone.  One lady complained that she was unable to hear.  Neil Harris has a PA system he can donate if someone knows how to set it up. Discussion was also held regarding the cost of the course.  Bob reported that the club needs to purchase more earplugs soon.

HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS

The costs for the high school rifle teams will be $65.00 per student.  There will be no school involvement this year.  The teams will be starting the first or second week of November.  Skip Blank and his wife each volunteered to sponsor one student and challenged others to do the same.

HEATERS

We have a suspected leak in the propane tanks that supply the new heaters. We are renting the tanks and will have the company come out to check/repair as needed.

PATCHES AND T SHIRTS

·         Patches are $5.00

·         T Shirts are $20.00

·         Hats $10.00

CIVIL AIR PATROL

Basic Marksmanship Encampment (BME) will be October 2, 3, and 4th.  This is the 25th year the club has participated and this will be the 57th BME.  Forty participants are expected.

ELECTRIC

The club is replacing the high-density lights above the targets, the plan is to replace them with high tech fluorescent lights.

We will submit an NRA Grant Application to redo all the lights and get the ceiling ready for recessed lighting.  We have a bid from John Lawrence for $500-$700 for materials and the labor will be at no cost.  A suggestion was made to provide John a one year membership in appreciation for his labor.

MISCELLANEOUS

Mike Milano resigned from the board.  He will continue to help with things that need to be done.

After you bring friends a couple of times you should encourage them to join the club.
