MEMBERSHIP

We now have 115 members!  We welcome our new members for this month: Young & Richard Jaqua, Mike & Karen Schessler, and Bill Gillmore.  We hope you will make lots of new friends and enjoy good shooting.  Thank you, Neil Harris, for going the “extra mile” to be there to conduct the safety briefing for the new members.

OLD BUSINESS

HEAT:  Now that we have more efficient propane furnaces, we are using less fuel.  Brad Tarbet will pump the fuel from one oil tank to another so we can continue to be fuel-efficient; the oil is for the furnace in the meeting room.  Plans are in the works for a timer/key access system; if this works out we will allow members to use the heat for a fee.  Stay tuned on this.

FINANCES

With the New Year, we replenish our accounts with dues payments.  These keep us afloat for the year, so be sure to get them in on time.  $120 for a full year family membership.

SECURITY

To increase security in our vault, a new lock will be installed.  Steve Carmick volunteered to get this done.  We are missing a rear peep sight.  It may have fallen off and be anywhere in the range.  If you locate it, please let one of the coaches or officers know.

NEW LIGHTING

The trial run of a new 65-Watt Flood with similar brightness to our current bulbs was successful. We will be installing eleven new fixtures with these new floods on the North side of the range. We will be checking with the City of Centralia if they have an Energy Efficiency Rebate Program for this.  If not we plan to go ahead on our own as they not only are safer, but use less wattage and thus save us money!

HIGH SCHOOL RIFLE TEAMS

The W.F. West (Chehalis) and the Centralia Rifle teams, coached by Steve Carmick and Brad Tarbet will shoot through February 2010.  This means that there will be practices and matches on just about every weekday afternoon from approximately 3:30PM to 6:30 PM through Feb.   Both teams are shooting well.

FRIENDS OF NRA

We receive much of our grant funding from this group.  Now they need our help with their annual fundraising event: The Friends of NRA Banquet & Auction.  This involves ticket sales and rounding up business to donate prizes.  We want to really help this organization.  Their next planning meeting is at the Elks Club at the Fairway Shopping Center at 8:30 A.M. On Dec. 12.  Come join the fun.

SPECIAL PISTOL EVENTS NEED RSOs

Two groups will take to our range soon. The dates on these are being firmed up, and will be announced at the Jan. meeting.  The first event is the 2nd annual Masonic Shooting Night. Masonic Lodges in the Lewis and Thurston County area will rent our range for an evening of bowling pin and dueling tree events.  The second group will be a City of Centralia Employees Shooting event.  This is a familiarization and appreciation event for our city and the help they provide.  RSOs stay tuned for dates.

LEAD-MINING WORKDAY SET

On Saturday, January 16 at 9:00 A.M., a work party will sift the lead from the sand of the bunkers.  So far Steve Carmick, Brad Tarbet Skip Blank, Greg Martin, Bill Gillmore, Neil Harmon and Dan Freeman have volunteered to help and bring wheelbarrows and shovels.  Any more volunteers?
