FAIR

The club has a pellet booth in the Wildlife Building. The club has air rifles and swinging targets for people to shoot at.  Duties will include changing the VCR cassette, there are two, one on target shooting and one on self defense.  There will be membership applications and business cards to provide to interested people.

 

GUTTERS ON WEST FASCIA

The cost will be approximately $550.00 and included three plumbed downspouts.  Ken suggested four downspouts.  Jeff Gillespie offered his backhoe to plumb the fourth downspout. Up to $675.00 had previously been approved for this project.

 

SIDING

Vance Hendricks and Louie Cotte were volunteered to update the bids.  Bids must be in by September 1, 2008.

 

GRANTS

Sue Carmick is completing applications for grants.  One is $5,000 Range Improvement Grant.  We should hear in October whether the club will receive this grant.

 

BOWLING SHOOT

·         The bowling pin shoot was a success everyone had a great time.  The club is planning to continue having the bowling pins shoots beginning sometime after school starts and will continue to be on Thursday evenings.  Steve Burress will be the lead.

 

PATCHES AND T SHIRTS

·         Patches are $5.00

·         T Shirts are $20.00

·         Hats $10.00

 

SALE OF WINCHESTERS

The offer from Cabella’s for the sale of the rifles was only $375.00.  The club will pursue selling them on Gun Brokers.com.

 

PAINTING OF YELLOW LINE

The club thanked Vance Hendricks for painting the yellow line on the range.

 

CIVIL AIR CADETS

They will use the club on the 7th and 9th.  The letter of agreement must be signed and returned prior to their use.

 

NATIONAL AIR CADETS

Cadets from 19 different countries were present.  Steve held a barbecue at his house and 45 people attended.  The club received a thank you certificate from them.

 

RANGE SAFETY OFFICER CLASS

Will probably be held 9/13/08 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and 9/14/08 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.  All are encouraged to attend.  The class will be held at Steve Carmick’s house and will cost $30.00 per person.  The cost will include a Safety Range Hat.  The fee must be paid by 9/1 in order for course materials to be ordered and received prior to the class.

 

GUN SAFETY IN THE HOME

Self Defense Course is planned for January

 

FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

Two new fire extinguishers have been ordered, they will replace two that were too old.

 

MISCELLANEOUS

Mike Milano volunteered to help with oil filter changes.

 

Evergreen College

The club was contacted by Evergreen, the college wanted to start teaching self defense.  College students don’t qualify, they must be taught by a police officer or a lawyer and an RSO must be in charge.  We will rent the range to them if the conditions are met.
