SELF DEFENSE COURSE The course will be three evenings and one Saturday. Tell those you know who might be interested to call Steve Carmick (748-7671) and get their names on the list. If any of you want to be involved as participants or trainers, it’s not too late. The course will include safety law and tactics; they will bring a variety of pistols so you can see what you like. The course will hold 30 students. Tentative dates are May 7,8,9,10 with firing on Saturday. Information will be on the web site. Steve Carmick will be teaching law and tactics. HIGH SCHOOL RIFLE TEAM The WF West team won this year. Both teams first job was to teach good safe beginning shooters. Of the five schools participating, Tumwater won rifle scores trophy on a handicap basis. Each high school had two full squads. Brad’s team won last year, Steve’s team won this year. STATE SHOOT March 22, 2008. Starts at 9:AM, arrive between 7:30 and 8:00 AM, will end at 5:00 or 6:00 PM. 40 shots each position, standing, kneeling, and prone. They bring a range officer and score keeper. We need a member with a key on site. INSTRUCTORS COURSES A NRA training counselor from Some parts of the home safety and outside home course must be taught by a lawyer or by the police. SHOOTING ACTIVITIES The Bullseye League ends April 17. Bowling Pin shoot will be held the last week of April on a Thursday. A decision will be made on the number of categories needed. We also need to come up with rules and categories. PATCHES Centralia Rifle Club patches will be for sale. We are checking into prices and sizes for purchasing club tee-shirts. BUILDING AND SIDING We have one bid and maybe getting another one. We would like to have this project completed by summer. DONATIONS FOR TARGETS A box has been placed on the door where targets are stored. We had budgeted $500.00 for targets this year and have already spent $600.00. Please donate as you can, to help keep our costs down. If people donate 10 cents per target we should be fine. OUTSIDE LIGHTING and CURB PAINTING A big THANK YOU for the outside light fixture, from Vance Hendricks. And a formal “Thank You” from the club to the person who painted the curbs and lines. PALM RESTS Rifle Club coaches were given discretion to purchase palm rest at $80-$100 each or buy better slings and shooting accessories. The club received a donation of $450.00 and the club will add $350.00 for a total of $800.00. INSURANCE The club approved a motion to increase the amount of insurance for the rifles to $40,000 in coverage for a COST OF $1,176.00. Discussion was held regarding security of rifles. DOOR LOCK The people who have not paid their dues have been removed from access to the building. It was also mentioned, “even if you are only in the building for 5 minutes you still need to sign in and out.” NEXT MEETINGS: Regular monthly club meeting April 1, 2008 |
